Lifeline
05:05
|
|||
We stand together on the starting line,
But it's not a race of any kind.
It's a journey down a long winding road,
With some souvenir shops that will add to our load,
And it's possible the world may explode,
So let's slow down, take our time.
Hang on to our lifeline.
We walk together down the centre line,
But this paved road ain't the only kind.
There are country lanes and trails to explore,
And we might want to rest up in one place or more,
Or go back to some place we've been before,
So let's slow down, take our time
Hang on to our lifeline.
(Instrumental)
We cross together at the finish line,
But it's not the end of humankind.
Our children run the relay after we're done,
And their children's children will continue to run,
On and on as long as there is a sun,
So let's slow down, take our time.
Hang on to our lifeline...

Travelers
03:52
|
|||
Sunrise birds are singing.
Morning newness waking.
You light my day.
We plan where we are going,
not sure of our arriving.
But you guide our way.
Oh how – how can I thank you for your effort of love?
Wind and motor whining.
Silent resting smiling.
Many sides to you.
Hot and dry and anxious need.
Wind against us tests the creed,
we said in better times.
Oh how – how can I thank you for your effort of love?
(Instrumental)
Oh how – how can I thank you for your effort of love?
Evening cool descending now.
Stars above belittling me,
but I feel your love.
Rain moist wind rising now.
Bringing hope to ground and bough.
We sing praise to you.

The Milky Way
04:01
|
|||
I love to look up at The Milky Way,
Sitting on a mountain side, city lights left far behind.
See a billion stars in The Milky Way,
When my eyes are open wide, it expands my spaced-out mind.
I do believe that there is life to find out there,
I even think that there's intelligence somewhere.
Please try to look up at The Milky Way,
In the dark where you can see the entire galaxy.
Count a billion stars in The Milky Way,
And it's just one galaxy, there are countless we can't see.
You will believe that there is life to find out there,
You'll even think that there's intelligence somewhere.

Cathedral
04:16
|
|||
Ageless stone pillars, arches of sky,
Floor of snow diamonds in the cool mountain air.
Incense of pine, mist veils the sun,
Glorious benediction in the stillness that's there.
Cathedral of order, Cathedral of peace,
I'm baptized in silence – renewed and set free.
Towers of clouds pregnant with rain,
Hang heavy over fields of ripening grain.
Blue fields of flax sigh and wave in the wind,
A hawk wheels above, lifts my spirit again.
Cathedral of plenty, Cathedral of peace,
I'm baptized in silence – renewed and set free.
instrumental
Thunder of surf, ageless rhythm of time,
Sun on the horizon turns the water to wine.
Womb of all life, deep as the soul,
Awesome vision of creation unfolds.
Cathedral of power, Cathedral of peace,
I'm baptized in wonder – renewed and set free.

Want and Need
04:17
|
|||
If you want to do it right, then you need to know what's wrong.
If you want to see the light, then you need the dark along.
If you want to heed the call, then you need to hear it first.
If you want to have it all, then you need to pay its worth.
Chorus:
When you wake up early every morning,
it's another chance to start anew.
It's a brave new world that you're reborn in.
Try to muster all the courage in you.
When you're sleeping soundly every evening,
you can rest upon the things you do.
Dream about ideals that you believe in, they'll come true...
If you want a better life, then you need to know what's best.
If you want an afterlife, then you need to pass the test.
(Chorus)
If you want your life to change, then you need an open mind.
If you want the world to change, then you need to change your mind.
(Chorus)

Good Old Days
03:49
|
|||
We've come so far from those good old days,
From family picnics at the zoo.
Now we're all grown up, and somehow we've grown apart,
It sure is good to see you once again.
We've come so far from those high school days,
Drinking from a wine-skin by the lake.
Expecting love to answer, but finding only questions,
It sure is good to see you once again.
And the north wind howls, but the warm fire glows,
Stop awhile and tell me how you've been.
The firelight in your eyes is more precious than gold,
When you stop awhile and tell me what you've seen.
It's funny how the passion and impulse of youth,
Give way to wisdom and restraint.
I suppose every season reveals its own truth,
But man, it's good good to laugh with you again.
We've got such a long, long way to go,
Yet calendars get shorter every year.
Thank God that we change and grow with time,
But when will I see you again?
When the north wind howls, and the warm fire glows,
I'll stop awhile and tell you how I've been,
The firelight in your eyes is more precious than gold,
When you stop awhile and tell me what you've seen.
When you stop a while and tell me what you've seen.

Failure to Succeed
04:46
|
|||
Socrates was a failure in his mind,
“Know thyself” was the message he sent humankind,
To be happy he believed we must,
Use our reason to be fair and just,
A fine philosophy that soon went bust,
Cuz we can't get past greed and lust,
We leave our ideals in the dust... far behind.
John Milton was a failure, yes it's true,
His intentions for “Paradise Lost” all fell through,
His lofty goal was to justify,
All the ways of God to you and I,
But he couldn't, and do you know why,
Cuz he set his sights way too high,
So he couldn't find paradise... in this zoo.
Ludwig Van was a failure, that's no lie,
He was deaf to all those compliments that would fly,
His music was conceived to transcend fate,
But instead his tunes were merely great,
An ordinary man would celebrate,
Success in itself can placate,
But that's not enough for young “Beet”... so he died.
If you feel like a failure, shout Yahoo,
Cuz it means that your standards are higher than you,
Think of something that's worth failing at,
Try to be an altruistic cat,
If you don't I'll have to eat my hat,
The world may as well remain flat,
But you're much more noble that that... and me too.

Missing You
04:37
|
|||
I called you yesterday,
You made me want to sing,
And when I feel that good you know,
A song just had to come.
I walked alone last night,
And you, you were on my mind,
And when I thought of how you love me,
This song just had to come.
Chorus:
And I guess missing you
is what it takes to let me know how I love you,
And I guess missing you
is what it takes to let me know how I need you.
There was a time long ago,
When I walked alone,
Some day you know I'll be flying home,
To be with you again.
(Chorus)
Now if I ever feel our love,
Grow cold and out of place,
I'll just recall this song,
This song I wrote for us.
(Chorus)

Joy
04:08
|
|||
Joy... Life offers so much joy... So enjoy the joyful noise...
Joy... Life offers so much joy... So enjoy the joyful noise...
Sunset skies, walking a forest pathway,
summer days at the beach.
City lights, driving an open highway,
wilderness within reach.
Baby's laugh, old couples holding hands,
a stranger's smile on the street.
Mother's voice, Dad says he proud of you,
a loved one's hug when you're beat.
You may think joy is hard to find but it's there in everything,
You might have to look close to see it,
but if you do you will sing out with
Joy... Life offers so much joy... So enjoy the joyful noise...
Joy... Life offers so much joy... So enjoy the joyful noise...
Favourite songs, films you've been waiting months for,
well-read books open wide.
Morning runs, workout routines that work,
and your team wins it with pride.
Peaceful crowds, moments of solitude,
then you and I have some fun.
No more war, three meals on every table,
freedom for everyone.
You may think joy is hard to find but it's there in everything,
You might have to look close to see it, but if you do you will sing out with Joy...overlap into...
Joy... Life offers so much joy... So enjoy the joyful noise...(repeat)
