Lifeline 03:07
Lifeline We stand together on the starting line, But it's not a race of any kind. It's a journey down a long winding road, With some souvenir shops that will add to our load, And it's possible the world may explode, So let's slow down… take our time… hang on to our lifeline. We walk together down the centre line, But this paved road ain't the only kind. There are country lanes and trails to explore, And we might want to rest up in one place or more, Or go back to some place we've been before, So let's slow down… take our time… hang on to our lifeline. We cross together at the finish line, But it's not the end of humankind. Our children run the relay after we're done, And their children's children will continue to run, On and on as long as there is a sun, So let's slow down… take our time… hang on to our lifeline.

Good Old Days We've come so far from those good old days, from family picnics at the zoo. Now we're all grown up, and somehow we've grown apart, It sure is good to see you once again. We've come so far from those high school days, drinking from a wine-skin by the lake. Expecting love to answer, but finding only questions, It sure is good to see you once again. And the north wind howls, but the warm fire glows, Stop awhile and tell me how you've been. The firelight in your eyes is more precious than gold, When you stop awhile and tell me what you've seen. It's funny how the passion and impulse of youth give way to wisdom and restraint. I suppose every season reveals its own truth, But man, it's good good to laugh with you again. We've got such a long, long way to go, yet calendars get shorter every year. Thank God that we change, and grow with time, But when will I see you again? When the north wind howls, and the warm fire glows, I'll stop awhile and tell you how I've been, The firelight in your eyes is more precious than gold, When you stop awhile and tell me what you've seen. When you stop a while and tell me what you've seen.

Want And Need If you want to do it right, Then you need to know what's wrong. If you want to see the light, Then you need the dark along. If you want to heed the call, Then you need to hear it first. If you want to have it all, Then you need to pay its worth. When you wake up early every morning, It's another chance to start anew. It's a brave new world that you're reborn in, Try to muster all the courage in you. When you're sleeping soundly every evening, You can rest upon the things you do. Dream about ideals that you believe in, They'll come true... If you want a better life, Then you need to know what's best. If you want an afterlife, Then you need to pass the test. If you want your life to change, Then you need an open mind. If you want the world to change, Then you need to change your mind. When you wake up early every morning, It's another chance to start anew. It's a brave new world that you're reborn in, Try to muster all the courage in you. When you're sleeping soundly every evening, You can rest upon the things you do. Dream about ideals that you believe in, They'll come true...

Cathedral 03:03
Cathedral Ageless stone pillars, arches of sky, Floor of snow diamonds in the cool mountain air. Incense of pine, mist veils the sun, Glorious benediction in the stillness that's there. Cathedral of order, Cathedral of peace, I'm baptized in silence – renewed and set free. Towers of clouds pregnant with rain, Hang heavy over fields of ripening grain. Blue fields of flax sigh and wave in the wind, A hawk wheels above, lifts my spirit again. Cathedral of plenty, Cathedral of peace, I'm baptized in silence – renewed and set free. Thunder of surf, ageless rhythm of time, Sun on the horizon turns the water to wine. Womb of all life, deep as the soul, Awesome vision of creation unfolds. Cathedral of power, Cathedral of peace, I'm baptized in wonder – renewed and set free.

Failure To Succeed Socrates was a failure in his mind. “Know thyself” was the message he sent humankind. To be happy he believed we must use our reason to be fair and just. A fine philosophy that soon went bust, cuz we can't get past greed and lust. We leave our ideals in the dust... far behind. John Milton was a failure, yes its true. His intentions for “Paradise Lost” all fell through. His lofty goal was to justify all the ways of God to you and I. But he couldn't, and do you know why? Cuz he set his sights way too high, So he couldn't find paradise... in this zoo. Ludwig Van was a failure, that's no lie. He was deaf to all those compliments that would fly. His music was conceived to transcend fate, but instead his tunes were merely great, An ordinary man would celebrate,. Success in itself can placate, But that's not enough for young “Beet”... so he died. If you feel like a failure, shout Yahoo. Cuz it means that your standards are higher than you, Think of something that's worth failing at. Try to be an altruistic cat. If you don't I'll have to eat my hat. The world may as well remain flat, But you're much more noble that that... and me too.

Matter Over Mind There once was a time, When the printed word was prime, Then we watched TV – matter over mind. Images everywhere, On our phone, the walls, in the air, And they're watching me – matter over mind. Hey there Big Brother. I'm feeling smothered. I need another kind. We all want to be, In touch with reality, Then we interface – matter over mind. We used to talk two-way, But now we're just texting all day, At an instant pace – matter over mind. I think it's trending. The hits ascending. The never-ending kind. Spans of attention are shorter anyhow, Media is the message now. Oh I wish I knew what mattered, Oh I wish I knew my mind, So I could find the answer, Questioning what is left behind. The future looks so bright, That we wear our shades at night, But they're Live On-Line – matter over mind. Virtual Life is here, We just need the upgraded gear, And our precious time – matter over mind. Is is connection? Or real rejection? The misdirection kind. Mind over matter is too much grist to grind, They feed us matter over mind.

Just Let It Go If you want to be free, just let it go... (Repeating chant)

Can't Get There From Here I want peace for all the world, but I can't get there from here. I need love from a beautiful girl, but I can't get there from here. I've given everything I ever had, ever since I was just a little lad, And though I always fail, and sometimes get mad, I won't turn the good boy bad. Eyes on the prize – I can almost see it, it's near... No big surprise – I just can't get there from here. You want peace and love like me, but you can't get there from here. We need everyone to feel free, but we can't get there from here. It shouldn't be too much to ask, with everybody working on the very same task, So please don't hide yourself behind a mask, or drown in a spirit flask. Eyes on the prize – I can almost see it, it's near... No big surprise – I just can't get there from here. Eyes on the prize – I can almost see it, it's near... No big surprise – I just can't get there from here. The door is locked, and the window is barred, A barbed-wire fence built around your yard, Keeping you safe, but making exploring hard. The road is blocked, and there's no u-turn, The ferry is sunk, and the bridge is burned, Flights are cancelled, but I am not concerned. Eyes on the prize – I can almost see it, it's near... No big surprise – I just can't get there from here. Eyes on the prize – I can almost see it, it's near... No big surprise – I believe I'll get there from here.

Fire On The Horizon Searching for pathways through moonlit valleys, Balance on stepping stones in swirling eddies. This could be beautiful. This could be treacherous, Hungry wolves are closing in on us. It's always been this way. Millstone turning endlessly. Daily bread and daily prayers. Daily hope for better days. Fire on the horizon, embers light the night. Paralyzed by choosing between fight or flight. Bright light billboards show lovers kissing, I should be happy but something's missing. Commuter train windows frame vacant faces, Consumer train eating holes in wild places. It's always been this way. Work to live, escape the pain. Daily bread and daily prayers. Daily hope for better days. Fire on the horizon, embers light the night. Paralyzed by choosing between fight or flight. Billions of people make trillions of choices, No truth is heard in all these voices. The world is shaped by deeds or inaction, Weeds overwhelm this untended mansion. It's always been this way. Millstone turning endlessly. Daily bread and daily prayers. Daily hope for better days. Fire on the horizon, embers light the night. Paralyzed by choosing between fight or flight.

Do You Wonder Why? I see the world get worse each week, You can't deny it looks quite bleak, You've got big men with big guns who justify with double-speak. Still I keep smiling. Do you wonder why? I talk to people every day, You won't believe the things they say, They've got big mouths and big heads but act like little children at play. Still I keep smiling. Do you wonder why? Mother Nature's got an ace up her sleeve. Surprises that we just can't conceive, The dinosaurs got no reprieve… No need to make a fuss. It’s all so much bigger than us. They say that's just the way it goes - just the way it goes, You all could fall like dominoes - just like dominoes, We've got big plans and big deals with propaganda videos – what a show. Still I keep smiling. Do you wonder why? Mother Nature's got an ace up her sleeve. Surprises that we just can't conceive, The dinosaurs got no reprieve… No need to make a fuss. It’s all so much bigger than us. Mother Nature's got an ace up her sleeve. Surprises that we just can't conceive, The dinosaurs got no reprieve… No need to make a fuss. It’s all so much bigger than us.

Joy 03:50
Joy Joy... Life offers so much joy, So enjoy the joyful noise. Joy... Life offers so much joy, So enjoy the joyful noise. Sunset skies, walking a forest pathway, summer days at the beach. City lights, driving an open highway, wilderness within reach. Baby's laugh, old couples holding hands, a stranger's smile on the street. Mother's voice, Dad says he proud of you, a loved one's hug when you're beat. You may think joy is hard to find, But it's there in everything, You might have to look close to see it, But if you do you will sing out with Joy… Joy... Life offers so much joy, So enjoy the joyful noise. Joy... Life offers so much joy, So enjoy the joyful noise. Favourite songs, films you've been waiting months for, well-read books open wide. Morning runs, workout routines that work, and your team wins it with pride. Peaceful crowds, moments of solitude, then you and I have some fun. No more war, three meals on every table, freedom for everyone. You may think joy is hard to find, But it's there in everything, You might have to look close to see it, But if you do you will sing out with Joy… Joy... Life offers so much joy, So enjoy the joyful noise. Joy... Life offers so much joy, So enjoy the joyful noise.

about

2023 marked the 10th anniversary of the release of our first collaborative album "Travelers". That creative and productive songwriting chemistry continued with the release of a second album "Fire on the Horizon" a few years later.

After 10 years, it was time to acknowledge and celebrate that we've grown. Although we have always been proud of the songs themselves, a decade of experience caused us to critically re-visit the arrangements and production. It was gratifying to discover how years of playing and singing as a duo allowed these songs to develop and mature.

So here we are; Going back to our roots with a stripped down, unplugged re-make of our perennial favorites.... and hopeful that they'll become your favorites too.
